Chalachitram National Film Festival opens in Guwahati

The 10th Chalachitram National Film Festival (CNFF) commenced on October 24 at the Jyoti Chitraban Film Studio in Kahilipara, Guwahati. Organized by Chalachitram, a subsidiary of Vishwa Samvad Kendra-Assam, the two-day event is held under the theme ‘Our Heritage, Our Pride’.

The festival was inaugurated by National Award-winning filmmaker Dr. Santwana Bardoloi. The opening screening featured the Japanese short film ‘Kintsugi’, directed by Noomen Noomen, which explores themes of grief and trauma. The festival is showcasing 44 documentaries and short films across various competitive and non-competitive sections.

Special programming includes a screening of ‘Bhupen da Uncut’, directed by Bobbeeta Sharma, as a tribute to Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika during his birth centenary. The event will conclude on October 25 with the screening of Uzbek filmmaker Asadbek Akmal Ogli’s short film ‘Present’. A jury of artists and critics will select winners across eight categories to receive trophies, certificates, and cash prizes.
