Chalandri: 78-year-old arrested for vehicle thefts and illegal weapons possession

Police in Chalandri have arrested a 78-year-old man accused of a series of systematic thefts from parked vehicles. The suspect had been operating in the area since late August, primarily during afternoon and evening hours, targeting unsecured vehicles or breaking side windows to steal cash, electronic devices, and other valuables.

The arrest occurred while the man was searching for his next target on a street in Chalandri. A subsequent search of his residence uncovered a significant cache of weapons, including two pistols—one of which was loaded and ready for use—a hunting shotgun, a revolver replica, and 100 pistol cartridges. Authorities also seized three computers, the origin of which is currently under investigation.

The individual faces charges of multiple thefts and violations of weapons legislation and has been brought before the competent Prosecutor's Office.
