Chalchuapa urban streets undergo 2.8 km renovation

The Dirección de Obras Municipales (DOM) has completed the renovation of 2.8 kilometers of urban streets in the Chalchuapa district, located within the Santa Ana Oeste municipality. The project, which benefits over 80,000 residents and tourists, was executed in three distinct phases to address various road conditions.

The first phase involved 1.6 kilometers of asphalt streets, utilizing techniques such as pothole repair and resurfacing. In areas with significant damage, crews implemented reinforcements including geomesh, geotextiles, granular fill, and a stabilized soil-cement base before applying a seven-centimeter asphalt layer.

The second phase focused on approximately one kilometer of deteriorated hydraulic concrete, which required demolition and renewal of sections such as Avenida San Luis and Calle La Joya. The third phase involved the rehabilitation of cobblestone surfaces on specific avenues.

In addition to surface improvements, the project included the installation of road signage and the enhancement of curbs, gutters, and culverts to improve safety and drainage for both drivers and pedestrians.
