Chalcis to host Lelantio Road running event
The city of Chalcis is preparing to host the 4th Sterea Run, featuring the Lelantio Road running event. Organized by the Evia Runners Sports and Cultural Club in collaboration with the Region of Central Greece and the Municipality of Chalcis, the event is held under the auspices of the General Secretariat of Sports and the Ministry of Tourism.
The competition offers two distinct routes starting and ending at the Strogylos beach area. The 25 km Lelantio Road is a circular route that traverses the historic Lelantine Plain, passing through areas such as Mytika, Aphrati, and Nea Lampsakos. The course follows the Lelantus River and provides views of the Roman Aqueduct of Chalcis, connecting participants to the historical site of the Lelantine War.
A second 5 km race, titled ‘The Roads of Skarimbas’, is a flat and fast course along the Chalcis waterfront. This race is dedicated to the renowned local writer Giannis Skarimbas and is designed to be accessible to runners of all levels.
