Chalkidiki imposes forest traffic ban amid high wildfire risk

The Regional Unit of Chalkidiki announced a temporary ban on pedestrians and motor vehicles in forested areas of the municipalities of Kassandra, Sithonia and Aristotelis because of a high fire‑danger rating (level 3). The restriction is in force from 08:00 to 20:00 on the dates specified by the authority – initially on Thursday 29 July, again on Friday 31 July and on Saturday 1 August 2026 – covering the Kassandra peninsula, the Sithonia peninsula and the Aristotelis coastal zone.

Enforcement will be carried out at forest‑road entry points by the Greek police. Violators face an administrative fine of €300. Members of volunteer fire‑prevention organisations are exempt from the ban. The measure aims to protect human life, forest ecosystems and public property.

Authorities urge residents and visitors to comply with the restriction and follow official instructions.
