Chalkidiki: MEGA TV crew attacked during wildfire coverage

A news crew from MEGA TV was attacked in Chalkidiki while reporting on a major wildfire in the region. Journalist Maria Vogoutsa reported that the team faced verbal abuse, physical assaults, and was spat upon by a group of residents.

The attackers reportedly damaged the crew's equipment, including a microphone and a mobile phone, and attempted to damage the camera. The cameraman was also physically struck while attempting to protect the equipment. The confrontation reportedly escalated when individuals demanded the crew leave the area, citing false claims regarding the danger of exploding canisters.

Vogoutsa expressed dissatisfaction with the response of the police officers present at the scene, claiming that the requested intervention was insufficient during the incident.
