Chalkidiki to hold memorial for Moldovan family killed in fatal car accident

A memorial service (trisagio) will be held in Chalkidiki, Greece, to honor a Moldovan family killed in a head-on collision with a heavy vehicle. The accident occurred on the Nea Moudania – Sithonia provincial road near Metamorfosi.

The victims include a 35-year-old father, a 28-year-old mother, and their 6-month-old infant. The family's 7-year-old daughter, Patrícia, survived the crash with serious injuries. She was recently transported via ambulance from Thessaloniki to Moldova to continue her medical recovery.

The ceremony, marking 40 days since the tragedy, will be conducted by priests from the Holy Metropolis of Kassandra. A small chapel has been erected at the site of the accident, where mourners have also left candles and a doll believed to belong to the surviving daughter. Georgios Palazis, the Honorary Consul of Moldova in Thessaloniki, noted that the memorial serves as a symbolic bond between the Greek and Moldovan people.
