Challenges in newborn care and parental mental health
Parenting involves navigating both the practical demands of newborn care and the complex emotional landscapes of mental health. For new parents, the initial weeks focus on mastering fundamentals such as interpreting infant cries, managing feeding and sleep routines, and establishing bonding through skin-to-skin contact.
Beyond physical care, parents must manage their own psychological well-being. Anxious parenting can inadvertently model fear and uncertainty to children. When parents operate from a place of perfectionism or a need for control to mitigate perceived dangers, they may unintentionally signal to their children that the world is unsafe and that they lack the resilience to handle challenges independently.
