Chalon-sur-Saône illegal rave ends with police clash

An unlicensed rave took place in Chalon-sur-Saône just after the official "Chalon dans la rue" festival had concluded. About 500 participants were inside the venue near the port Nord, while another 1,500 attempted to gain entry.

French authorities invoked a prefectural order banning unauthorized musical gatherings. Police, gendarmerie units under the CORAT plan and CRS forces intervened after attendees erected barricades and threw projectiles. The operation dispersed the crowd and restored order, with the prefect of Saône‑et‑Loire reiterating the determination to enforce public safety.
