Chalupáři television series legacy and history

The classic Czechoslovak television series ‘Chalupáři’, produced in the mid-1970s under the direction of František Filip, remains a staple of television broadcasting decades after its release. The series follows the interactions between Evžen Huml, played by Jiří Sovák, and Bohouš Císař, played by Josef Kemr.

The plot centers on Huml, a retiree from Prague who moves to the countryside for peace, only to find himself living under the same roof as Císař in the village of Třešňová. The show is noted for its portrayal of rural life through a series of neighborly disputes, misunderstandings, and community bonds.
