Chamath Palihapitiya warns Bitcoin value could drop to zero
Billionaire investor Chamath Palihapitiya has issued a warning that Bitcoin could eventually lose all its value due to security risks, limited financial privacy, and technological upgrade difficulties.
Palihapitiya highlighted that advancements in artificial intelligence and quantum computing could threaten Bitcoin’s existing cryptographic protections. He noted that while quantum computing poses a theoretical threat to digital asset encryption, the network would need to transition to quantum-resistant cryptography, a process that requires difficult consensus among developers.
Additionally, the investor argued that Bitcoin’s public transaction records could limit widespread adoption by central banks and other institutional buyers who require higher levels of privacy. He suggested that if a significant security breach were to occur, it could lead to a total collapse in market confidence and price.
