Delhi Capitals appoint Chaminda Vaas as fast bowling coach

Delhi Capitals have appointed former Sri Lankan fast bowler Chaminda Vaas as their fast bowling coach for the upcoming IPL 2027 season. Vaas, who recorded 761 international wickets during his career, replaces Munaf Patel.

This appointment is part of a major coaching overhaul for the franchise. Vaas joins a backroom staff that includes head coach Sourav Ganguly and assistant/batting coach Yuvraj Singh. The team is also reportedly considering former leg-spinner Amit Mishra for a spin bowling coaching role, though this remains unconfirmed.

Vaas brings extensive experience to the role, having previously served as a bowling coach for the Sri Lankan national team and held consultancy positions with New Zealand and Ireland. His addition follows the franchise's decision to restructure its leadership after finishing sixth in the 2026 season.
