Chaminda Vaas joins Delhi Capitals as fast bowling coach

Sri Lankan cricket legend Chaminda Vaas has reportedly joined the Delhi Capitals as a fast-bowling coach ahead of the IPL 2027 tournament. Vaas, a former member of Sri Lanka’s 1996 World Cup-winning squad, has reportedly arrived at the franchise’s preparatory camp in New Delhi.

The appointment is part of a broader coaching overhaul for the Delhi Capitals, who have not reached the IPL playoffs since 2021. Other reported additions to the coaching staff include Yuvraj Singh as an assistant coach and Sourav Ganguly, who is expected to be named head coach. Former Indian spinner Amit Mishra is also slated to join the new setup.

Previous attempts by the franchise to secure coaching staff included talks with Anil Kumble and Zaheer Khan, though reports indicate those discussions did not result in appointments. The team is also looking to rebuild following the 2026 season, where they finished sixth.
