Chamoli snowfall and rain hit higher reaches of Uttarakhand

Snowfall has begun in the higher reaches of the Chamoli district in Uttarakhand, India, accompanied by intermittent rainfall. The Hemkund Sahib area is being covered by snow, leading to a significant drop in temperatures at the shrine.

In the Satopanth trail area near Badrinath, fresh snow has blanketed the landscape, affecting trekkers and signaling a seasonal transition from the monsoon to colder weather. While snowfall in September is a known phenomenon at these high altitudes, the India Meteorological Department has issued alerts for heavy to very heavy rainfall across much of Uttarakhand.

The state government has advised residents and travelers to exercise caution, monitor weather updates, and avoid unnecessary travel due to the inclement conditions.
