Champagne consumption and drawing techniques
The Champagne Bureau UK has released guidance to debunk common myths regarding the consumption and storage of champagne. Experts advise against spraying champagne upon opening to prevent loss of wine and bubbles; instead, the bottle should be tilted at a 30-45 degree angle and the bottle rotated to allow the cork to emerge gently.
Regarding glassware, the Bureau suggests avoiding traditional flutes and coupes. Flutes cause effervescence to dissipate too quickly, while coupes lose aromas due to their large surface area. A tall, rounded, tulip-shaped glass is recommended to better preserve bubbles and aromas. Additionally, the use of a spoon to preserve bubbles is ineffective, with the Bureau recommending a high-quality champagne stopper instead.
Separate instructional content provides a step-by-step guide for artists on how to draw a champagne glass, focusing on capturing graceful curves, delicate stems, and the appearance of transparency and bubbles to add elegance to artwork.
