Champat Rai alleges Nripendra Misra dominated Ram Mandir construction decisions

Champat Rai, the former General Secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, has released two detailed nine-page statements following his resignation. The statements contain serious allegations regarding the management and decision-making processes of the Ram Mandir construction.

Rai claims that Nripendra Misra, the chairman of the temple construction committee and a former IAS officer, exercised disproportionate control over major decisions. According to Rai, Misra was primarily responsible for selecting Larsen & Toubro (L&T) for the temple construction and the Noida-based firm ‘Design Associates’ for related building works.

Furthermore, Rai alleges that Misra influenced the composition of the construction committee by appointing close associates, some of whom reportedly visited Ayodhya only once or twice in six years. The statements also note that while the committee held regular meetings, decisions were often modified to align with Misra’s preferences. Rai’s resignation follows a controversy involving the alleged theft of offerings at the temple.
