Chancay Port establishes itself as a major regional logistics hub

The Port of Chancay has transitioned from a potential project to a significant regional logistics hub in Peru. Data indicates a substantial increase in both the number of exporting companies and total export value. In the first half of 2026, 320 companies exported US$ 552.7 million, representing a 57% increase compared to the same period in 2025.

Transshipment activity has also grown, accounting for 55% of the TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) moved during the first half of 2026. Between October 2025 and May 2026, the port surpassed APM Terminals in transshipment volume, becoming the second-largest player in this activity in Peru, trailing only DP World.

Experts suggest the next challenge is to evolve the port into an integrated industrial logistics corridor. This would require improvements in land connectivity, urban infrastructure, human capital, and governance to generate higher added value.
