Chance the Rapper considers changing stage name to ‘The Rapper’

Chance the Rapper, born Chancelor Jonathan Bennett, has expressed interest in changing his stage name to ‘The Rapper’. The 33-year-old artist shared these thoughts during an appearance on the ‘Tea Time’ podcast with Raven-Symoné and Miranda Maday.

Bennett explained that his fascination with language and the craft of songwriting has influenced this potential rebranding. He noted that he views great rappers as ‘etymologists and linguists at heart’ and feels a deep connection to the art form itself. While he has used his current moniker for over 15 years, he indicated that he has been thinking about the change frequently of late.

No official rebranding date or formal announcement has been made, but the artist suggested the idea stems from a desire to emphasize his identity within the hip-hop craft.
