Chance The Rapper considers dropping name to become ‘The Rapper’
Chance The Rapper has revealed that he is seriously considering a change to his stage name. During an appearance on the ‘Tea Time’ podcast with Raven-Symoné and Miranda Maday, the Chicago-based artist discussed his desire to move away from his current moniker.
He expressed interest in dropping the “Chance” portion of his name, stating, “I’m going to take off the ‘Chance.’ I just want to be ‘The Rapper.’” The artist explained that his current name, which was given to him by a high school acquaintance, often requires him to provide a level of personal vulnerability that he no longer finds as appealing. He noted a desire to focus more on the art form and the genre itself, rather than focusing solely on his personal life.
While the potential rebrand is currently a work in progress, the artist emphasized his continued connection to hip-hop and his respect for the linguistic and etymological aspects of the craft.
