Chandauli police seize 1.5 crore rupees worth of illegal liquor
Police in Chandauli, Uttar Pradesh, seized illegal English liquor valued at approximately 1.50 crore rupees during a checking operation on National Highway-19. The shipment, consisting of 1,185 cases containing a total of 10,451 liters of alcohol, was discovered hidden inside a container.
To evade detection, smugglers had concealed the liquor crates beneath sacks filled with wood shavings. Acting on a tip-off, the Syedraja police, supported by SWAT and surveillance teams, intercepted the container. The driver, a resident of Rajasthan, was arrested and revealed that the shipment originated in Panipat, Haryana, and was destined for Bihar.
Authorities are currently investigating the smuggling network involved in transporting the goods from Haryana to Bihar, where alcohol prohibition laws are in effect.
