Chandigarh Police arrest man in Rs 9.51 lakh digital arrest scam
Chandigarh Police have arrested 34-year-old Raj Kumar Shaw in Howrah, West Bengal, for his alleged involvement in a digital arrest scam totaling Rs 9.51 lakh.
The investigation began after a Chandigarh resident reported being threatened with a fake digital arrest. The fraudster allegedly contacted the victim, falsely claiming she was involved in human trafficking and money laundering. Fearing these accusations, the victim transferred Rs 9,51,347 to a bank account provided by the perpetrator.
Following a technical investigation and analysis of the money trail, police linked the funds to an account associated with Shaw. During interrogation, Shaw reportedly indicated that another individual was involved in the crime. He has been sent to judicial custody, and authorities are continuing their investigation to identify and apprehend additional suspects.
