Chandigarh Police encounter suspect in student murder case

Chandigarh Police engaged in an encounter with a suspect linked to the contract killing of a 17-year-old former student of St. Joseph’s Convent School. The operation, led by Inspector Sekhon of the Operation Cell, took place in the forest area of Sector 50, during which the alleged accused sustained a gunshot wound.

Investigations suggest the murder was a contract killing potentially linked to Lucky Patial, a gangster associated with the Bambiha gang. The motive is believed to be a personal rivalry following an assault in Sector 34. Police report that a student holding a grudge against the victim, identified as Naitik, allegedly accompanied the shooter to identify him. During the initial attack, Naitik was shot in the chest and later died at a hospital, while an auto-rickshaw driver was also struck in the shoulder.

This incident follows another shooting on October 23 in Sector 22, where a minor was killed and another person was critically injured in what appeared to be a dispute stemming from long-standing grudges.
