Chandigarh Railway Station redevelopment reaches 90% completion

The redevelopment of the Chandigarh Railway Station is approximately 90% complete. Executed by the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the project is a brownfield redevelopment designed to modernize the gateway to the Chandigarh-Panchkula region while maintaining uninterrupted train operations.

Key features of the upgraded station include two G+3 station buildings located on the Chandigarh and Panchkula sides, connected by a 72-metre-wide central Air Concourse and two 12-metre-wide Foot Over Bridges. The structure will also feature a 180-metre-long Through Roof for weather protection.

To improve accessibility, all six platforms are being upgraded with new surfaces and shelters. The station will also be equipped with 16 lifts and 8 escalators to provide barrier-free access for senior citizens and passengers with luggage. Additionally, circulating areas, parking, and pick-up/drop-off facilities are undergoing substantial upgrades.
