Chandra Asri invests USD 800 million in CA-EDC facility
PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk, through its subsidiary PT Chandra Asri Alkali, is developing a Chlor Alkali–Ethylene Dichloride (CA-EDC) facility with an investment exceeding USD 800 million. As of July 2026, construction progress has reached 72%, with operations targeted to begin in 2027.
The project aims to strengthen Indonesia's industrial resilience by producing crucial raw materials such as caustic soda and ethylene dichloride (EDC) domestically. These chemicals are essential for various sectors, including the production of soap, detergents, alumina purification, and plastics.
Esther Sri Astuti, Executive Director of the Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (INDEF), noted that the facility will facilitate import substitution and reduce dependence on foreign supplies. The project is expected to receive strategic investment support from Danantara Indonesia and the Indonesia Investment Authority (INA) to bolster downstream industrial competitiveness.
