Chanel Harris-Tavita extends Warriors contract until 2029
Chanel Harris-Tavita has signed a long-term contract extension with the New Zealand Warriors, committing his future to the club until the end of the 2029 NRL season. This second extension in less than three months follows a previous agreement that secured his position through 2027.
The 27-year-old playmaker has become a vital component of the Warriors' squad, demonstrating versatility by successfully transitioning from five-eighth to halfback during a recent victory over the Brisbane Broncos when Luke Metcalf was sidelined with an injury. Head coach Andrew Webster praised Harris-Tavita’s professionalism and composure under pressure.
Warriors general manager of recruitment and development Andrew McFadden noted that the signing ensures Harris-Tavita remains a critical part of the club’s long-term plans. The extension provides stability to the team's halves as they prepare for upcoming roster changes and head toward the NRL finals.
