Chang An-lo advocates for Taiwan reunification with China

Chang An-lo, the founder of the Chinese Unification Promotion Party (CUPP), is actively advocating for the reunification of Taiwan with mainland China. Known by the moniker ‘White Wolf,’ Chang’s mission is to persuade the Taiwanese population to avoid pursuing independence, which he argues would provoke a military conflict with Beijing.

Chang has accused Taiwanese President William Lai Ching-te of inciting tension with China by pushing for independence. He maintains that if Taiwan does not pursue a separate political identity, war can be avoided. Chang also claims to have engaged in negotiations with Chinese authorities regarding the status of certain Daoist temples in Taiwan.

His pro-unification stance remains a minority view in Taiwan. While the island has been administered separately from the mainland for over a century, current opinion polls indicate that most of the 23 million residents prefer to maintain Taiwan’s status as a de facto independent state.
