Changes in Peruvian football management and coaching

Several leadership changes are occurring within Peruvian football clubs. Universidad César Vallejo has officially announced the departure of head coach José Guillermo ‘Chemo’ del Solar. The decision follows a disappointing campaign in Liga 2 2026, where the club failed to achieve its primary objective of returning to the top flight.

In another development, speculation has emerged regarding a potential return of Ecuadorian winger José Carabalí to Universitario de Deportes. Reports indicate that Carabalí, currently with LDU de Quito, recently met with Universitario administrator Franco Velazco. While no official negotiations have been announced, the meeting has sparked interest regarding the club's planning for the 2027 season.
