Changhua Christian Hospital nurses assaulted by patient

Three nurses at Changhua Christian Hospital were injured during a medical violence incident in a surgical recovery room. The assault occurred after a patient, who had recently undergone surgery, requested water. When the medical team explained that drinking was temporarily prohibited for safety reasons, the patient became aggressive.

While a nurse was attempting to secure a chest tube, the patient reportedly punched her multiple times in the head. Two other nurses who rushed to assist were also struck, resulting in injuries to their heads, faces, and ears. Despite the attack, the staff prioritized the patient's safety to prevent complications like pneumothorax before seeking medical attention for themselves.

Changhua Christian Hospital President Chen Mu-kuan has issued a zero-tolerance stance regarding medical violence. The hospital has reported the incident to the police and is fully supporting the injured staff in pursuing legal action to protect their rights and dignity.
