Changhua City launches matchmaking event to address low birthrate
The Changhua City Office in Taiwan will hold a single‑person matchmaking event on September 5, inviting 80 unmarried residents aged 20‑40 to take part. The program, titled “3 万解谜、幸福无敌~东方再起”, combines a reality‑puzzle challenge, outdoor exploration and team‑based tasks designed by a professional team. Participants will compete for a NT$30,000 puzzle prize, and successful matches will receive a commemorative gift and, if they register their marriage by the end of 2028, a NT$20,000 voucher.
Mayor Lin Shih‑hsien noted that the initiative is part of the city’s broader effort to counter declining birthrates, building on six years of similar activities that have already helped ten couples marry. The event will be held at the newly renovated Xiangshan Trail in Dongfang Park and will feature a visit to a local vegetarian farm for a buffet showcasing the region’s agricultural resources.
