Changhua County officials visit centenarian to honor Chongyang Festival

In observance of the approaching Chongyang Festival, Changhua County Magistrate Wang Hui-mei visited 100-year-old Su A-yueh to express respect and care. Accompanied by local representatives, the Magistrate presented Su with 10,000 TWD in ceremonial funds, a gold ornament, and various gifts.

Su, who raised six children alone after being widowed, was noted for her resilient and optimistic attitude. Changhua County currently has 309 centenarians, with the oldest resident reaching 113 years of age.

To support the elderly, the Changhua County Government is promoting several welfare initiatives, including community care centers, senior fitness facilities, and the ‘Changhua County Senior Happiness Card.’ Starting October 1, holders of the card can receive monthly subsidies of up to 200 TWD for purchases at various local agricultural and fishery associations.
