Changing dating and intimacy trends among young generations

Younger generations, specifically Gen Z and Millennials, are increasingly moving away from online dating due to emotional exhaustion and a desire for authentic experiences. A Forbes Health survey indicates that 79% of these demographics find dating apps emotionally draining. In response, new social trends are emerging that prioritize real-world interaction, such as pub quizzes designed for meeting people and active dating like running clubs.

Concurrently, experts note a shift in intimacy and sexual experiences among young people. Data from the CzechSex research project shows that up to 25% of women and 33% of men under 25 have not yet had a sexual partner. Sexologist Marek Broul attributes this to a combination of factors, including economic uncertainty, longer periods of education, living with parents, and the influence of social media algorithms that often present simplified or unrealistic images of sexuality. The digital environment frequently enters the lives of young people before their first real-world intimate experiences, potentially shaping unrealistic expectations.
