Changpeng Zhao Defends Giggle Academy’s Sale of Crypto Donations

Former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao responded to criticism that Giggle Academy’s practice of selling donated meme tokens creates selling pressure. Zhao said he had no prior communication with the academy and does not manage the donation address, noting that the team’s routine is to convert most received tokens to BNB at the end of each month. He emphasized that donations are meant to be spent, not burned, stating, “If you call it a donation, you should expect the recipient to use it,” and warned donors not to expect the academy to act according to their wishes.

Zhao also highlighted that the academy uses the proceeds to fund free education for children worldwide, reaching over one million students in less than two years since its launch. He rebuked those demanding token destruction, calling such expectations “shameful.” The platform’s model combines AI‑driven curricula with NFT rewards, relying on crypto philanthropy to sustain operations.
