Hanoi residents receive large cash compensation for land clearance

In Hanoi, residents involved in major urban development projects, such as the National Highway 1A axis and the Olympic Sports Urban Area, have been receiving large sums of land compensation in cash. In Tuong Mai Ward, 12 households recently received approximately 136 billion VND, with one individual receiving nearly 42 billion VND.

Public attention has been drawn to images of citizens using large sacks and bags to carry billions of VND in cash home. Legal experts warn that while cash payments are permitted under current regulations, this method poses significant risks, including theft, loss, and potential legal disputes. Experts recommend that residents prioritize bank transfers and carefully verify all documentation and account details before signing any receipts.
