Chania hospital performs pioneering complex angioplasty
Medical professionals at Agios Georgios General Hospital in Chania have announced the successful completion of a pioneering complex angioplasty on a high-risk patient. The procedure was performed using the Impella device, a system providing partial mechanical circulatory support.
According to hospital officials, this marks the first time such a procedure has been conducted in a regional hospital in Greece, noting that similar operations are rarely performed even in university hospitals. The success is attributed to the continuous development of the hospital's Hemodynamic Department since its establishment in 2017.
