Crete hotel faces refund request from British tourist over mosquito bites

A British tourist staying at a hotel in Chania, Crete, has requested a full or partial refund after being bitten by mosquitoes during his stay. The traveler claimed the incident severely impacted his psychological well-being and ruined his holiday, leading him to leave the accommodation early.

To support his claim, the tourist provided photographs of mosquito bites on his leg and demanded that his room and mattress be inspected by a certified health company. Kyriakos Kotsoglou, the Special Advisor for the Region of Crete, managed the case, noting that the administration treats such requests with respect to protect the region's tourism image.

Following an inspection by a certified company, no issues were found in the room or the mattress. The hotel also replaced the mattress as a precaution. After receiving the official certification and the administration's response, the tourist considered the matter resolved and expressed intentions to return to Crete next year.
