Chania municipality launches network of 62 free drinking water fountains

The Department of Cleanliness, Greenery & Environment of the Municipality of Chania, in partnership with DEYAX, announced an extensive network of 62 public drinking water fountains operating throughout the municipality. The fountains are installed in squares, parks, playgrounds and sports facilities, providing free, tested drinking water to residents and visitors at all hours. Each fountain features signage that encourages the use of reusable water bottles, supporting the city’s effort to reduce single‑use plastic waste in line with national and EU regulations. The locations are mapped online and can be found by searching for “drinking water fountains” on services such as Google Maps, covering areas from the historic city centre to neighbourhoods, parks, sports venues and schools.
