Chania Museum of School Life opens new permanent exhibition

The Museum of School Life in Chania has inaugurated a new permanent exhibition titled ‘As Erotima Anoichto’ (As an Open Question). Located at the Old Primary School of Nerokourou, the exhibition was curated by Maria Drakaki, a founding member of the museum and cultural analyst.

The exhibition utilizes historical artifacts from the museum’s collection—such as old desks, school photographs, and traditional blue aprons—and places them in dialogue with contemporary artworks. This approach aims to bridge the gap between the school past and the present social and cultural reality.

The display is organized into four thematic sections distinguished by a specific color code: the Color Wheel section, the ‘Black and White’ section, the ‘Blue Dimension’ section, and the Primary Colors section. Visitors are encouraged to engage in free exploration rather than following a predetermined path, fostering personal discovery and lifelong learning through the connection of historical evidence and modern art.
