Chania Police Arrest Parking Lot Employee and Owner in Elafonisi Operation

On Friday, 7 August, police from the Kissamos Police Department in Chania carried out a targeted operation in the tourist area of Elafonisi, Crete, to stop illegal "white" parking that misleads visitors. Using a drone for surveillance, officers first detained the parking‑lot employee who repeatedly directed cars from the road while wearing a fluorescent vest – his seventh recorded offense.

A short time later the police returned to the same spot and arrested the business owner who had taken the employee’s place, unaware that the drivers were police officers. Both the employee and the owner have been charged with illegal parking and dangerous interference with traffic and will appear before the Chania magistrate. The arrests were captured on video by the drone and reported by ERT news.
