Chania search operation underway for missing 22-year-old
Authorities have launched a search operation in the Tersana coastal area of Chania, Crete, following the disappearance of a 22-year-old man. The individual, an Indian national employed at a local hotel, reportedly went swimming from a pier or small harbor on Monday afternoon and failed to resurface.
The search is being coordinated by the Unified Search and Rescue Coordination Center and involves two Hellenic Coast Guard patrol boats, private vessels, and land-based teams. A private diver is also participating in the efforts.
Search operations are currently being hindered by adverse weather conditions, specifically western winds reaching 5 to 6 Beaufort.
