Chania shopkeeper returns thousands of euros found outside his store

A shopkeeper in Chania, Greece, demonstrated significant honesty by returning a large sum of money found outside his business. Giorgos Kyrou, the owner of a bougatsa shop located near the Chania KTEL station, discovered the cash at his entrance earlier this week.

Kyrou noted that the money appeared to be the daily earnings of another business. He stated that he intended to wait for the owners to claim the funds and would have handed the money over to the police if no one had come forward by closing time.

The owners contacted him by telephone that same afternoon, and the money was successfully returned to them the following day. While the exact amount was not disclosed, reports indicate it totaled several thousand euros.
