Chania to host 14th Hellenic Artificial Intelligence Conference in 2026

The 14th Conference of the Hellenic Artificial Intelligence Society (SETN 2026) is scheduled to take place at the Chania Cultural Center from September 9 to 11, 2026. The event is co-organized by the Hellenic Artificial Intelligence Society, the Technical University of Crete, and the Region of Crete. This edition is dedicated to the memory of Greek AI scientists Pavlos Peppas and Themis Panagiotopoulos.

The conference program features lectures from prominent Greek and international researchers covering fields such as Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Knowledge Representation and Reasoning, AI Applications, Knowledge Graph Construction, and Robotics.

A public robotics demonstration is scheduled for the first day, Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 17:00. Led by Professor Panos Trachanias from the Computer Vision and Robotics Laboratory at the Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas (FORTH), the demonstration will feature the Unitree G1 humanoid robot. The demonstration aims to show how an RGB camera can track human upper-body movements in real time, allowing the robot to mimic human gestures and posture while maintaining dynamic balance through reinforcement learning.
