Chania to host obesity awareness campaign ‘Let’s Share the Weight’

The Municipality of Chania, the 7th Health Region of Crete, and the Panhellenic Association for the Support of People with Obesity Iméroessa are organizing an awareness campaign titled ‘Let’s Share the Weight’ in Chania. The events are scheduled for Wednesday, October 9, 2026.

The program includes morning and afternoon activities. From 11:00 to 13:00, the Chania Fencing Club (OAX) will lead physical activities for all ages at the KAM outdoor area in Katechaki Square, alongside healthy food tastings supported by local businesses.

In the evening, from 17:30 to 20:30, a symposium will be held at the Megalo Arsenali. Medical experts will discuss the phenomenon of obesity, its impacts, modern prevention and treatment methods, and its comorbidities. The initiative aims to highlight physical activity as a tool for wellness and to address obesity as a major public health issue recognized by the World Health Organization.
