Chania vascular surgeon's appointments halted after motorcycle theft

Unknown thieves stole a 15‑year‑old white Honda motorcycle, helmet and house keys from outside the main entrance of the General Hospital of Chania while a vascular surgeon was on call. The theft was reported to the police and the hospital administration was notified. Because the surgeon has no transport, regular clinic appointments for the vascular surgery unit have been suspended from Monday, with only patients requiring wound‑care changes being seen.

The surgeon, who has worked in the unit for about two and a half years, normally examines 24 patients each Monday—double the scheduled 12. He expressed concern over the financial burden of replacing the vehicle. His wife, a pediatrician at the same hospital, and their two young children were also affected by the incident.
