Channel 5 acquires UK rights to Wentworth sequel series

The UK broadcaster Channel 5 has acquired the rights to the upcoming sequel series, Wentworth: Beyond Bars (also referred to as Wentworth: Halfway Home). The production, handled by Fremantle, serves as a continuation of the successful Australian prison drama.

The new installment follows Susan ‘Boomer’ Jenkins, played by Katrina Milosevic, as she navigates life on parole at the Sally Lee Halfway House. While attempting to rebuild her life and reunite with her daughter, Boomer becomes embroiled in a mystery following the discovery of a dead resident.

Returning cast members include Nicole da Silva as Franky Doyle and Kate Box as Lou Kelly. They lead an ensemble that features Rachel Griffiths, Sophie Lowe, and several new actors. The series is expected to launch in the UK on Channel 5 later this year, following its Australian release on Binge.
