Channel 5 to replace 5Select with new 5Drama channel

Channel 5 is restructuring its television lineup, which includes the closure of 5Select after eight years of broadcasting. The channel, which served as a hub for documentaries and factual content, will be replaced by a new free-to-air channel named 5Drama.

Launching on October 21, 5Drama will focus on drama programming from the Channel 5 archive, such as ‘All Creatures Great and Small’, alongside international titles. The reshuffle will also see 5Action move to the former 5Select slot on Freeview channel 46. While 5Select is closing, factual programming will continue to be available via the main Channel 5 station and digital streaming platforms.
