Channel 7 wins weekly Australian TV ratings led by AFL finals

Channel 7 secured the highest weekly television ratings in Australia for week 37 of 2026, spanning September 6 to September 12. The network led in Total People, the 25 to 54 demographic, the 16 to 39 demographic, and the 18+ Grocery Shoppers category.

Seven’s performance was bolstered by 7NEWS, The Voice, and Home and Away, but the AFL finals on Friday and Saturday provided decisive wins. Specifically, the AFL Saturday Night Football Finals reached a national audience of 2,496,000 viewers with an average audience of 975,000.

Nine Network remained competitive, particularly with The Block on Sunday and Tuesday, but finished second in Total People share with 28.1%. ABC followed with 17.5%, while Network 10 recorded 12.5%.

In the news category, 9News led Seven News in reach, while Seven News maintained a higher average audience. Other notable programming included ABC’s Grantchester and Network 10’s Selling Houses Australia.
