Channing Frye critiques Giannis Antetokounmpo's offensive skill set

Former NBA player Channing Frye has sparked discussion regarding Giannis Antetokounmpo’s offensive skill set, suggesting the Greek star relies too heavily on his physical attributes. Speaking on the Road Trippin Show, Frye compared Antetokounmpo to a ‘2.13m tall running back’ who relies on momentum and physical dominance to attack the basket.

Frye expressed concern that this physical style of play could become a disadvantage if Antetokounmpo faces injuries to his ankles, knees, hips, or shoulders, noting that the player lacks the diverse offensive tools to adjust his game when not at 100% health.

As a point of comparison, Frye cited Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers, noting that Embiid possesses a more versatile scoring repertoire—including mid-range shots, post play, and three-pointers—that allows him to maintain high scoring outputs even when his physical condition is compromised.
