Channing Tatum discusses fatherhood and his role in ‘Josephine’
At the Toronto International Film Festival, actor Channing Tatum and co-star Gemma Chan discussed the film ‘Josephine’, which explores a married couple's struggle after their daughter witnesses a crime. Chan noted that Tatum’s performance displays a new level of emotional depth, attributing this to his real-life experiences as a father to his 13-year-old daughter, Everly.
Tatum shared insights into the emotional complexities of parenting, admitting that it can be difficult to be honest with a child about one's own struggles. He noted that while parents often want to be a ‘Superman’ figure, fatherhood has taught him the importance of being human and allowing his daughter to see his vulnerabilities. The film previously received recognition at the Sundance Film Festival, winning both the Grand Jury and Audience Awards.
