Chanson singer Kumiko holds tour finale in Tokyo
Chanson singer Kumiko concluded her national tour with a special concert at Tokyo Opera City on October 30. The performance celebrated the release of her concept album, “Chanson-tic na Utatachi Vol. 2: Tsumugu Jidai, Monogatari o Utau.”
The Tokyo finale featured special guests, including 90-year-old lyricist Reiko Yukawa and the Tokyo Women's Chorus (TLC). Kumiko also performed alongside the male chorus group Baby Boo, delivering various a cappella and collaborative numbers.
During the concert, Kumiko paid tribute to late industry figures through song. She performed “Yoitomake no Uta” to honor Akihiro Miwa, who passed away in June at age 91, and sang “Kyo de Owari” to remember Yoichi Sugawara, who died in May at age 92. Kumiko previously had a professional connection to Sugawara, having recorded a duet with him during his lifetime.
