Chantal Goya announces end to major financial debts
French singer Chantal Goya has announced that she and her husband, Jean-Jacques Debout, are nearing the end of a significant financial crisis. After facing debts exceeding two million euros, Goya stated that the couple has already repaid their entire debt to the tax authorities and is currently finalizing an agreement with their bank.
The financial difficulties stemmed from a massive loan taken in 2018 from the Crédit municipal de Bordeaux to settle arrears with the French Treasury. The singer described the period as a struggle against a spiral where assets were seized and sold, noting that a professional setback caused them to lose much of their wealth rapidly. While a Paris court recently ordered the couple to repay 2.18 million euros to the banking institution, the couple has filed an appeal.
